Welcome!

This blog is to track the progress of our Johnny and Skookum Dalmatian puppy litter. We had puppies on May 14th. Our website can also be accessed at www.seaspecsdals.com.

Blue Boy aka Cooper's Page

Here is a photo of the first born puppy, the Blue Boy, at 3 weeks old, chewing on his sister.  He is a very striking little guy.  I like his confidence and his attitude.  I am thinking of naming him Boiler Maker, a drink my husband discovered while in the Air Force, and also an honorable profession.  I think it is also a sports team.

Here is Blue Boy at 4 weeks.  I thought I lost the photo, but I found it again!

Here is Blue Boy again at 5 weeks.  He looks like he is going to be a show quality puppy with nice spotting, good angles, masculine head and body, very nice disposition.

Here is Blue Boy at 6 weeks.  He is showing more of his show potential this week as he just naturally stacks himself out in the garden.  Blue Boy is the second most active of the puppies.  His most frequent playmate is the little Red Girl.  They are partners in crime as they roll in my freshy dug perennial bed, splash in the bird bath bowl, and tussle with each other in the grass.  Blue Boy is smaller and more compact than Patch Boy.  I'd put him about in the middle in terms of trainability and attitude.

Here at last are some 7 week photos of Blue Boy sitting in my office chair and romping in the yard.  Blue Boy is a very social little guy when it comes to play.  He is usually tangled up with his littermates playing, so it's been hard to photograph him by himself!  He's such a nice little guy, though, when you get him one on one.  Some folks tell me he is the nicest puppy in the litter, and he is definitely a handsome lad.  I like the singular spot under his left eye.  It is his most distinctive mark.

Here is Boiler Maker.  I have notice in the last few days that he is definitely gaining in height and weight over his sisters, and looking more masculine, but (don't tell him) still cute.  He continues to be very striking and should make his new owners very proud of him.  I have a feeling he is going to be very spoiled.

Here are some photos of Blue Boy at 8 weeks, still growing into a gorgeous boy.  Spending some extra time with him the last week has been very informative.  Blue Boy is a very smart, focused guy.  Just for fun, I did some target work (training the dog to run toward an object) with the two remaining puppies.  The Red Girl ran around the target, ran short of it, picked it up and ran with it, and basically took 5 tries to figure it out.  Blue Boy, on the other hand, was focused the first time and allowed me to triple the distance immediately, getting the cookie on the target the first time, each try.  He seems to have a lot of the easy-going personality and intelligence of his Grannie Flojo.  Maybe I should have name him Einstein.

Blue Boy at 8 weeks:

Blue Boy at 9 weeks hanging out with the pack.  Getting to sleep on the couch is definitely a sign of a good puppy.  He wants to be a future lap dog.

Blue Boy went to his new family at midweek, and it looks like he's going to have a pretty tough life (not!).  He did have an upset tummy on his ride up, but it looks like he is recovering very well and adapting to life on the couch.  All puppies should have it so rough.  Hmmm- it looks like he already is a lap dog.

10 Week Photo, and a new name:  "Cooper"!
It looks like he has his own chair...

Cooper at 12 weeks.  Look at that nice white coat and dark pigment.  That must come from Granny Boji.

The Water Puppy Photo:

Little Cooper has been ill with some sort of virus, poor little guy.  Here is a photo of him recuperating with his new mom, who has been very concerned about him.  Come on, fella, you're gonna be fine.

He's baaack!  I am told Cooper is on the mend from his illness, weighs in at 32 lbs at 16 weeks, and knows how to do all kinds of things - come, sit, stay, down, shake.  And, he hasn't even been to a training class yet.  Cooper's mom walks him about 4 miles a day, so both she and Cooper must be in pretty good shape.  Here is a recent photo of Cooper:

The latest picture of Cooper at 5 1/2 months, I think with his duckie.  He is all legs, just like McKenzie:

Another great picture of Cooper as he approaches 6 months old:

Shortly after this photo was taken, I was given a fabulous gift by Cooper's folks.  It seems Mr. Cooper is  Mr. February in the Dogs of Anacortes 2011 Calendar, and also appears in several other places in this work of art.  I am not biased, of course, but there is no doubt that he is the best looking dog in the entire calendar.  You can see from the above photos that he is very photogenic.  Of all the calendars I get every year, this one will definitely grace my office wall.  Good job, Cooper!

This looks slightly familiar.  First, we have a photo of Saint Cooper on Santa's lap.  Next we have a photo of Mr. Cooper when Santa is not looking:
